The Lord of the Rings Series in Order by J.R.R. Tolkien

The Lord of the Rings is one of the most sought-after fantasy books of all time. The series is an add-on to Tolkien's children's book The Hobbit, which was written in 1937. The story begins in ancient times when the Elven smiths crafted the Rings of Power. Lord Sauron, the Dark Lord, forged the One Ring, filling it with his own power so that he could rule all others. But the One Ring was taken from him, and though he sought it throughout Middle-earth, it remained lost to him. After many ages, it fell into the hands of Bilbo Baggins, as told in The Hobbit.

Tolkien's characters jump off the pages into the deep imagination within each of us as we follow Bilbo Baggins, Frodo Baggins, Boromir, Meriadoc, Pippin, Gimli, Legolas, Sam, and Gandalf through middle earth.
