These moving stories were collected and passed down orally for generations before being written down. Through her research Mary Powell has selected traditional wolf stories to be read and enjoyed by children ages 8 and up. They draw on the American Indian's long friendship with the wolf. Through the beautiful simplicity of its language this collection allows the reader to understand that the wolf's life and concerns are much like our own, a need for shelter, strong familial bonds, and protection and feeding the young.
